Metal

This is the tiller attachment for our weed eater. Every spring we try our hand at gardening. Hopefully, in the next few weeks we will plant some beans, squash and cucumbers. We already have some tomato plants planted.

Expired – Am I Going To Die

This morning I was fixing my breakfast and I decided I would eat my favorite breakfast – yogurt, fruit, and granola. As I was gathering the ingredients to make this fantastic breakfast, I started looking at the yogurt container for the expiration date. I knew I have had this container for just a little bit over 10 days. Then to my horror I noticed this on the container.

I thought yogurt was like milk – you could use it until that expiration date. So far I have not died of food poisoning but from now on I will be more mindful of eating up the yogurt.

On the way to Arkansas

Today Marc and I are on the way to bring home my daughters “stuff”. She is moving out of the dorm since she will be spending the spring semester in New York.

The day started off early. We were on the road by 6:30am. After driving for an hour we stopped at McDonalds for breakfast. I was able to have my coffee fix – a peppermint mocha coffee with a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit.

On the road we noticed the color of the trees.

Very pretty!

The trip usually takes 8-9 hours. To pas the time I am reading this book.

20111214-150725.jpg So far I really like the story. Here is a quote from the book that I like.

The berries. I realize the answer to who I am lies in that handful of poisonous berries. If I held them out to save Peeta because I knew I would be shunned if I came back without him, them I am despicable. If I held them out because I loved him, I am self-centered, although forgivable. But if I held them out to defy the Capitol, I am someone of worth. The trouble is, I don’t know what I was going on inside me at the moment.

Just a little bit longer and we should be at our destination

Random Thoughts on December 10, 2011

  1. Well, I finally have a Pinterest account.  It seemed to me that I have been trying to get an account since Thanksgiving.  Finally, after begging my daughter for an invitation I was off the waiting list and accepted.  I am still trying to learn how it all works.  I do know that there are a lot of interesting things on the internet…. like Choffy.
  2. Yesterday afternoon my Choffy came in the mail. I was very impressed with how fast it came, too.   Choffy is roasted Cocoa beans that you brew like you do coffee.  I love dark chocolate so when I saw this on the internet I knew I would like it.  I decided to make some  in my regular coffee maker.  (The recommended method is to use a french press.)  It look a long time for the water to drip through to the pot.  I stirred in a little bit of Stevia and some half and half into my cup.  It had a good chocolate taste.  Anyway, I decided that while I was out shopping I would  buy a french press.
  3. What was I thinking today —-  During the week, I made my annual mammogram for Saturday. For starters, I was paranoid that I would forget my appointment.  I could not concentrate on anything prior to the appointment.   I also thought since the mammogram place was by the mall that I would do a little shopping – pick up some Christmas gifts and of course a french press – surely it would not be to crowded yet. Was I wrong!  The traffic was a nightmare.  The stores were crowded.  The checkout lines were long.  I did get the french press but I had to bite my tongue when a lady cut in front of me in the check out lane.
  4. Tonight for supper I decided that I would make a pizza.  Usually, my husband likes to have just a pepperoni or hamburger pizza.  But because he was working I could be a little creative with my toppings.  So I made a hamburger, Kalamata olives, spinach, bacon pizza.  It was pretty tasty.

Now I am pretty tired — I think I will get ready for bed and read the last few remaining chapters of the “Hunger Games”.

Making Pumpkin Bread

My dear sweet Emily is coming home from college tomorrow for Thanksgiving break.  She requested that I make some pumpkin bread so I spent the evening doing just that.  I took these pictures with my little Sony Cyber-shot.  I took some with flash/no flash/ or flash that highlights the background. I only wish I could tell which picture was the best picture from all the options I was using.

Socks

I was going through the pictures  in my camera and I came across this picture of Socks.  Socks was twelve years old when this picture was taken.  You can not see it very well but she has a bump on her back that is cancer.  This cancer is caused from the shots that were given to her though the years between her shoulder blade by the vet.  At the time, it was not known that giving animals shots in the same place can cause a cancerous growth.

I love this picture of her.  I just wished that I had some pictures of her when she was younger.

What to be For Halloween

It is that time of year that I begin to think about what to be for Halloween.  I came across this picture and was wondering if I should do this? Any thoughts?
