One of the movies that my daughter, Emily wanted to see over Thanksgiving break was 2012. So last night Emily, Melinda and I went to the movies. Sometimes I feel way behind the times. My daughter and her friends are all into movies. They started talking about the Mayan prophecy and I am going what??? Anyway, they explained that this movie was about the Mayan prophecy coming true and what happens to the earth.
I will say this about the movie. It has a lot of destruction. It is amazing that Jackson Curtis is able to drive his car while the earth is shifting all over the plan. Later he is driving a mobile home and it is amazing that he is not hit by a fire-ball.
I do sometimes have a problem when I watch TV or movies on a work night. I sit down and then my eyelids get so heavy. It is hard to keep them open. I had that problem during this movie, too. I struggled through the first 30 minutes or so trying to stay awake. Then I guess I get my second wind because the movie started getting interesting.
I was mainly intrigued by how people behave when disaster occurs. The behavior/attitude that I find most disgusting is the “how to save myself first”. The more attractive behavior/attitude is the “putting others before me even when faced with death”. Both of these behaviors/attitudes are in this movie. I was very happy that the more attractive behavior/attitude won out at the end of this movie.
