I was putting up some stemware in the china cabinet and I came across this coffee cup.
Not the best picture. I was given this cup from my daughter for Christmas a while back. Okay maybe 7-8 years ago. I did not want to use the mug because of all the family photos. However, today I decided that is was a shame that I was not using this cup every morning for my coffee. Will the picture fade. Most likely. But I will be looking at these pictures and remembering the people and good times I had with them. Then I thought what a perfect way to begin each morning.😊
One of the habits I was trying to develop was to write on this neglected blog of mine. Yesterday, I was just too darn fatigued to post anything. I was in bed by 9:30pm. So, starting a new streak starting today.
Busy Saturday. Errands and house cleaning in the morning. We visited to the memory care facility to visit with my step MIL. Then off to work on the surprise for my son. Fifteen bags of leaves and two very tired old people. But we felt good that we could help him out some.
Let’s see, I thought last year was pretty crummy. I seemed depressed because the things I thought I would have now in my life do not look like it is going to happen any time soon. I have decided that it is looking in the past that causes me to be down. I think I’m going to pick the word “grateful” for my 2023 word.
Grateful – feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness; thankful.
First day of work for the year 2023. Hoping that this year tax season goes well. Fingers crossed but if I’m truthful with myself every tax season is grueling. 🤣
Here is my dog Maximus. I have always owned a dog but I don’t remember one ever having a cold/virus. He has been off is food, sneezing and coughing and it was getting worse. So off to the vet we went. So now we have all sorts of medication to help with the congestion and coughing. The vet said that some respiratory viruses in dogs can last up to six weeks. Yikes!!! Lucky the chest X-rays looked good. Hoping the medication works and he gets to feeling better soon.
This year we were sadden with the loss of our little dog Corky in the spring and then again in the fall with the sudden passing of my father.
On a happier note we had family visiting us along with making trips to Corpus Christi to see my dad. On one trip, my sister and I spent time on her sailboat. We celebrated a few birthdays with the best one for my father in law. To celebrate 95 years is an awesome thing.
This year for Fathers Day the Pearland featured Marc and Michael. I’m so proud of my firefighters.
As usual we participated in the Annual Friendswood 4th of July Parade. This year I was actually in the parade waving to the crowds.
We finally made it to South Korea to visit our daughter. It is hard to believe that she has been there for three years. She was a good tour guide and we made many fun memories.
We also took several camping trips. The trip to to Surfside Beach and Galveston were very relaxing.
Another grand adventure was a trip down to Kingsville. We purchased tickets to the Texas A&M (formerly known as Texas A &I) Javelinas football game. Hard to believe that it has been the first football game since we graduated 40 years ago.
Reflecting back makes me sad and happy. It also makes me wonder what 2023 will bring. Happy New Year 2023!!
I was complemented a friend on her nails last weekend and she shared with me that they were press on nails. This weekend I decided to see how I would like them. I purchased imPRESS press on nails. The nails were $5.97.
They were easy to apply. I’m not sure how long they will last because I did get them wet after on 20-30 minutes of applying to get ready for an evening out with friends. I do think they turned out rather well.
