It’s Cold – Sort of!!!

I  know that many people who live up north will probably laugh at what I think is cold.  All this week the news reports have instructed us Texans who live on the coast on how to survive the “freeze”.   The “freeze” arrived on Thursday.  Friday night was the coldest so far with a low of 23 degrees.  According to the weather man tonight it is to get below freezing again. Every night since then my dear sweet husband has turned off the water to keep our pipes from freezing.  The pipes are in the attic and if they freeze when they thaw out it can create a mess.  I do not know what the people who live in really cold climates do about their water pipes.  My daughter drove back to Arkansas and I was afraid that the roads would be covered with ice.  She called around 4:30 and laughed at my worry.  Apparently the roads were fine.  I am just very glad she arrived safely.

Even though this morning was very cold, by this afternoon I was able to get out in the sun and do a little yard work – raking our fall leaves.  This year we had some spectacular fall leaves.  Usually, the leaves are green – turn brown and then drop to the ground.  This happens in January.  This year we actually had some fall colors due to the snow fall we had in early December.  Snow does not happen very often here.  And when it does many business and schools shut down early.  Mainly, because we do not know what to do with snor or ice.  Anyway,  the weather has been so wet that we could not rake up the leaves until now.  It felt good in the sun.  Below are some of the pictures I took of the fall color around town.
