A Near Perfect Saturday

What makes a perfect Saturday? This may sound crazy but for me it means getting up at 5:30 am. Yes, I did say 5:30 am. I love to have my quiet time in the morning – a little bible study, a cup of coffee, and then after that reading the newspaper. At 7:30 am I head up to our exercise room. When we remodeled our garage – well, we actually tore down the old garage and built a new one and made it two stories – we added the exercise room. I decided to do some circuit training for about 30 minutes. After cooling down and eating breakfast, it is time for my weekly Saturday call from my mom. Today we had a good conversation. It lasted an hour. I felt good about all the things we talked about.

Then it was time for yard work. The weather was perfect. The sun was shining. It was not too hot – just 80 degrees. It was fun mowing the grass and raking the leaves. I also worked in the small garden we try to grow. Last weekend I planted spinach and blue bonnets. This weekend, I planted collards. Our tomato plants are growing nicely. They have some blossoms on them. I am hoping the fall garden is a bigger success than the spring. Truth be told, it will not take much for this garden to be better than the spring one. We also decided to take a pile of trash to the landfill. I know anyone reading this would say Yuk!!! but I like that feeling I get after working hard. That tired but good feeling.

Tonight plans included lighting up the chiminea and then watching the movie “Marley and Me”.  I can hardly wait.
